Homerilla Talk

Two window treatments show up constantly in home tours: Roman shades and bamboo shades. Both look great in photos. Both feel more finished than a basic roller. Neither one is universally better, because they solve different problems. The mistake is choosing by vibe alone. You love the woven texture in a showroom, install it in a bedroom, and realize at 10 PM that the streetlight comes straight through. Or you pick a fabric Roman for a sunny breakfast nook and miss the organic glow you wanted. Here is the real difference, and how to pick based on the room instead...

Autumn is the season where window treatments earn their keep. The light changes, the air turns crisp, and the first cold evening reminds you that your windows are the weakest thermal point in the house. If you have been living with summer sheers and thinking about upgrading, now is the time. Install before the coldest weeks arrive and you will not spend the winter adjusting the thermostat every night. This guide walks through the full Homerilla range room by room. Bedroom, living room, kitchen, nursery, home office, and rental apartments. Each section covers the layering strategy, the specific products, and...

Autumn is here. Nights are longer, drafts are creeping back around window frames, and the heating bill is about to climb. Before you touch the thermostat, look at your windows. They are the weakest thermal point in almost every home, and the fix is often simpler than upgrading the glass. Homerilla carries two families of products built for exactly this season: thermal curtains in wool and chenille, and honeycomb shades engineered for insulation. Here is how they work, what they do to your room temperature, and how to layer them for the best effect. Why Windows Lose So Much Heat...

Custom printed rugs have been one of our quietest categories. They do not get the same attention as curtains, but they solve a problem no curtain can: the floor. This week we updated the line with a new third weight option, and the range now covers everything from a soft bedroom mat to a dense, structured piece that holds up under a dining table. Here is what changed, what each weight feels like, and how to pick the right one for your room. The Three Weights, Explained All Homerilla custom printed rugs are made to your size and printed with...

Roman shades have always sat in the quiet middle ground between curtains and blinds. They carry the softness of fabric but the precision of a hard window treatment. This week Homerilla adds its own take: the Artistic Roman Shades for Windows, Custom Cordless or Motorized Flat Fold. It is built for the windows where a swinging drape gets in the way and a roller shade feels too flat. Here is what the product is, how flat fold behaves, what the motor and lining options do, and how it fits the rest of the Homerilla range. Why Roman Shades, Why Now Search...

Roller shades used to mean one thing: a flat slab of fabric on a spring. That version still exists, but the category has split into sleep grade blackout, soft light solar, no drill rental fixes, and motorized systems that talk to your house. Homerilla now covers all of those with five distinct roller models. This post lays them side by side so you can match the window to the job instead of buying the same shade for every room. Arden: 100 Percent Blackout, Motorized Ready Arden is the bedroom and nursery workhorse. The fabric is a solid 100 percent blackout...

Most curtain rods solve one problem and create another. They hold the fabric up, but they leave a thumb width gap at each side of the window where light bleeds in, drafts slip through, and the curtain never quite touches the wall. Our newest hardware release fixes that gap physically. The Adjustable Wrap Around Curtain Pole curves back to the wall at both ends, so your panel returns flush to the surface instead of hanging parallel to it. This is not a decorative upgrade. It is a small change in geometry that changes how blackout curtains, thermal drapes, and even...

Search for "blackout curtains" and you get a wall of panels all claiming 100 percent darkness. The truth is more layered. Blackout is not one product, it is a range of fabric constructions, and picking the wrong one means either a bedroom that still glows at noon or a living room that feels like a cave at breakfast. This guide explains the levels, the mechanics, and the three ways Homerilla approaches light blocking so you can match the window to the sleep schedule. Light Blocking Levels in Plain Terms Industry testing separates curtain opacity into four bands. The numbers describe...

Most sheer curtains do one thing well. They soften light. Most blinds do another thing well. They block light. Shangri-La shades, sometimes called sheer horizontal shades, do both at once, and they do it with fabric instead of hard slats. This week Homerilla adds its own version to the lineup, built for the same customers who already love our linen drapes and Bram faux cashmere panels but want a different kind of control on certain windows. Here is what the product is, how it works, where it fits, and how we keep the Homerilla rules around certification and transparent ordering....

When you start shopping for window treatments, the first fork in the road is almost always the same. Do you grab a pair of ready made panels online and hang them this weekend, or do you measure your windows and order custom curtains made to fit? The answer is not simply "custom is better" or "ready made is cheaper". Value depends on your windows, how long you plan to stay, and what you count as a cost. This guide breaks down both options across the factors that actually affect your wallet and your living room. What Ready Made Curtains Offer...

You might think faux cashmere belongs only to winter. We thought so too, until we finished developing Bram. This is Homerilla's newest addition. It brings a diamond woven pattern, a soft brushed handfeel, and something you do not see often in summer curtains: texture with weight. Let us walk you through why Bram works for warm weather, why faux cashmere makes sense year round, and how the old money aesthetic fits right into your living room, study, or bedroom. Diamond Pattern: Geometry That Stays Quiet The pattern on Bram is a continuous diamond motif woven into the fabric using jacquard...

Every time someone starts decorating or redecorating, the same questions come up: "How much should I realistically spend on custom curtains?" and "Are there hidden costs I'm not seeing in the quote?" At Homerilla, we believe in transparent pricing and informed decisions. Let's break it all down clearly, without throwing around specific numbers. What Determines a Reasonable Budget? There is no single answer. It mainly depends on three factors: fabric selection, window size including fullness ratio, and whether you need additional features like linings or special headers. Fabric Is the Core Driver Pure linen or 100% natural fibers sit at...
