Generally, the length of curtains depends on the position of the curtain rod.

Measure the length from the curtain rod to the floor, then subtract 2 inches to get the curtain length. This ensures the curtains don’t drag on the floor.

If you prefer curtains that puddle on the floor, you can add an appropriate length to the measurement from the curtain rod to the floor, so the curtains drape more naturally and fully on the floor.

Mounting the curtain rod close to the ceiling (rather than right above the window frame) is a classic trick to enhance the visual sense of space in a room. The core principle is to guide the eye upward through vertical lines, making the room appear taller and more spacious visually.

Typically, light-filtering curtains are installed in living rooms and dining rooms to ensure ample sunlight. Blackout curtains are used in bedrooms for sound insulation, noise reduction, and to guarantee quality sleep.

Of course, if you’d like, you can install double-layer curtains: a sheer layer plus a blackout layer. During the day, you can use the sheer curtains to block visibility, and for afternoon naps, the blackout curtains can create a completely dark environment, so that your sleep won’t be disturbed by light.

When you receive the curtains, the color looks normal, but once hung up, it seems as if the color has changed. The core reason is the difference in observation environment and fabric state leading to changes in visual perception, not an actual color deviation of the curtains themselves:

First, the difference in light environment: When received, the light source is single and the fabric is folded or laid flat; once hung, the curtains are in an open space, and the mixed illumination of natural light or indoor lamps, even the reflected light from outdoor scenery, will alter the color presentation.

Second, the impact of fabric form and background: When folded, the fabric is smooth; when hung, folds create light and shadow, making the color appear darker or uneven. Additionally, when the curtains are installed next to walls or furniture, the background color sets off and amplifies tonal deviations.

The color perception of small pieces of fabric is weak, but when hung as a large area of color, subtle tonal differences become prominent, ultimately making people feel “the color has changed.”

Curtains with prints or patterns typically have length restrictions. Curtains longer than 100 inches require splicing two pieces of fabric together, and the patterns cannot be perfectly aligned. This is why length limits are imposed.
